Why online
For many schools in Spain, the nearest test centre is far away
AESA’s list of language proficiency assessment centres (CECL) shows 13 centres as of 12 June 2026. All of them test in person and are based in Madrid, Jerez, Málaga/Torremolinos or Barcelona/Badalona. Some also test in other cities once they have enough candidates.

For your school
What a GAT test day gives your school
Nobody travels
Your students stay put and our examiners don’t need to come to you. No flights, hotels or lost training days.
On your schedule
We set the date where it fits your course. Anyone who misses it can book an individual slot, 7 days a week.
One point of contact
One person at GAT coordinates dates, times and questions with your school’s contact person.
Real examiners
Registered with Austro Control up to Level 6, and all of them fly. Two assessors rate every test.
Matched to each student
Topics follow the student’s stage of training. Students without a licence hear a short story instead of an ATIS.
Certificate within 24 hours
Each student gets their result and certificate by email within 24 hours, usually on the same day.
How it works
How we organise a test day
Every student takes their own test, one to one with the examiner. All you need to do is bring the group together on the agreed dates.
You email us
Use the email template on this page: school, location, number of students, preferred dates and the level they need.
We agree the day
We suggest dates and times. Each test takes a 45-minute slot, of which about 30 minutes is the test itself.
One-to-one test on Zoom
After an ID check, each student completes Part I and the interview – from a quiet room at school or from home.
A certificate for every student
Within 24 hours, by email and straight to the student, together with the documents AESA asks for.
Students book, or the school books – your choice
Each student books their own slot
We let you know the times planned for the test day, and each student books and pays online – no account needed.
- Payment by PayPal · credit card · bank transfer
- Free rescheduling up to 24 hours before
- The school doesn’t pay anything up front
The school organises everything
You send us the list of students and we coordinate the slots with your contact person. Payment and invoicing are agreed with you.
- One proposal for the whole group
- Each student still receives their own emails and certificate
- One point of contact for all slots
Reference prices: Levels 4–6 test €229 and Level 4 only €159, VAT included. These are base prices for weekday daytime slots; slots from 8 pm, at weekends and on public holidays carry a surcharge.
There are no fixed group discounts. Our no-obligation proposal sets out the price and terms for your test day.
Validity in Spain
Will AESA accept your students’ certificates?
Spanish regulations expressly provide for it when the assessment centre is approved by another state’s aviation authority.
«La Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Aérea aceptará, como acreditación del nivel de competencia lingüística del personal aeronáutico, los certificados expedidos por los centros evaluadores de competencia lingüística cuyo método de evaluación haya sido aprobado por la autoridad aeronáutica competente de otros Estados en aplicación del Reglamento (UE) n.º 1178/2011 […]».
In short: AESA will accept certificates from language assessment centres whose method has been approved by the competent aviation authority of another state under Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011.
Orden FOM/1146/2019, Art. 17.2 · Full text in the BOE (Spanish)
Tests are carried out in cooperation with the language testing body LTB 112. Its assessment method is approved and supervised by Austro Control, the Austrian aviation authority. LTB 112 carries out the second assessment and issues the certificates.
The online format meets the requirements of AMC1 FCL.055, with both face-to-face and voice-only situations. The final endorsement on each licence is AESA’s decision.
English RT privileges: to endorse an English language level, AESA also requires radiotelephony privileges in English in section XII of the licence. Our test does not grant them.
What each student receives for AESA
- Their language proficiency certificateBy email, within 24 hours.Included
- A copy of the assessment centre’s approvalAustro Control’s Approval Certificate LTB-112, sent with the certificate.Included

Confidentiality
Each result belongs to the student
The result and certificate go straight to the student by email. We only share a result with the school if the student agrees.
- After booking, each student sends us their ID and our privacy form
- If a student does not reach Level 4, nothing is sent to AESA or to the school
- They can book again whenever they like, also outside the test day
More details in our privacy policy.
Want to know how the group did?
The easiest way is for each student to forward you their certificate. If you would rather hear it from us, we need each student’s consent first.
Before the test day
PreCheck and mock tests for groups, too
If some students are unsure whether they will reach Level 4, a quick assessment beforehand takes the pressure off. For groups, we arrange it on request.
ICAO PreCheck · 20 minutes
A short assessment of the student’s aviation English before they book the test. €19 per student.
Mock test with feedback · 45 minutes
A practice run with ATIS, ATC calls and pictures, plus an estimate of whether it would be a 4, 5 or 6. €69 per student.
Prices include VAT and apply to weekday daytime slots; slots from 8 pm, at weekends and on public holidays carry a surcharge. Whoever prepares a student does not examine them, in line with AMC1 FCL.055.

What your students should know
These questions come up again and again during training. Clearing them up early avoids surprises before the skill test.
Level 4 as a minimum
Using English on the radio requires at least Level 4. For pilots it is reassessed after 4 years, not 3 – that period applies to AFIS staff. Level 5 lasts 6 years and Level 6 has no periodic reassessment.
ICAO English is not the radio rating
Language proficiency and radiotelephony privileges are separate entries on the licence. To endorse an English level, AESA also requires English RT privileges (section XII). Our test does not grant them. AESA FAQ (Spanish)
B2 is not Level 4
A general English certificate such as B2 is not an ICAO level. AESA only accepts certain C2 certificates, or native speaker status, to endorse Level 6 without a test. AESA note (Spanish)
English and Spanish are separate
Several Spanish airlines ask for ICAO English at Level 4 or above and, separately, a level of Spanish. Our test covers aviation English only.
Instrument flying
Holders of an instrument rating must demonstrate English under FCL.055(d). If your students are heading for the IR, factor it into your planning.
Any time during the course
Students can take the test without waiting for their licence. The first assessment and the renewal work the same way.
School FAQ
Questions flight schools ask us
Is a test by video call valid?
Neither Orden FOM/1146/2019 nor FCL.055 says whether the test must be in person or online. The online format meets the requirements of AMC1 FCL.055, with face-to-face and voice-only situations. The endorsement itself is AESA’s decision. How the video call test works
How many students can we fit into one test day?
That depends on the dates and times that suit you. Each test takes a 45-minute slot. Tell us how many students you have and we will suggest a timetable.
Do students have to take the test at the school?
No. Each student can join from the school or from home. They need a quiet room, a stable connection, a camera, a microphone and ideally headphones. A laptop or desktop works best. Our tech check tests everything in a minute.
Is there a group discount?
There are no fixed group discounts. The public prices are a useful reference, and our no-obligation proposal sets out the price and terms for your test day.
Level 4 only or Levels 4–6 for our students?
With Levels 4–6, each student is certified at the level they demonstrate, without deciding beforehand. A Level 5 or 6 saves reassessments later on. Level 4 only has slightly simpler tasks and certifies Level 4 at most. More about Level 4
Which languages do you speak?
By email and WhatsApp we reply in English or Spanish. On the phone we speak English and German. The test itself is, of course, in English.
